The Lancaster Canal

The Lancaster Canal is one of the country’s few coastal canals, offering 41 miles of lock free cruising - the longest   stretch  in the country which makes it perfect for stress-free Narrowboat holidays. The canal is ideal for   walking   and  cycling    as well as  canoeing    and other outdoor pursuits

The Lancaster Canal provides spectacular views of the Silverdale Coast, Forest of Bowland and Wyre countryside. The canal also features some of the most impressive canal architecture in the country. The impressive  Lune Aqueduct,   one of  John Rennie’s    finest works is definitely worth a visit   and has recently benefited from a £2.4 million transformation.

Nature

You can see all kinds of wildlife on the Lancaster Canal, from common sights such as mallards and moorhens, to rarer creatures like otters, kingfishers and water voles. 

 

Lancaster and Penny Street Basin

The Lancaster canal flows through the heart of  the city of Lancaster. Lancaster is a beautiful place to visit with lots of history,  culture and great shopping!
Penny Street Basin  hosts a fabulous selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants . The best part is you can moor up right outside, hop off the boat and enjoy a lovely meal alfresco!
